Bathurst Dairy Farmers Mixed-Use CBD Development

Project Description

We assisted Integrated Design Group (IDG) Architects to gain approval from Bathurst Regional Council for subdivision and a mixed-use development of a large (0.5ha) Bathurst CBD site.  Approval included 75 serviced apartments (4-5 storeys); ~1,800m2 of commercial office space; ~250m2 of retail/food premises; and two new dwellings (including the adaptive re-use of the ‘Dairy Farmers’ former brewery tower.  This Site was a listed heritage item and required a Variation Application to breach the 12m height limit.  It managed significant interface issues with lower-density residential adjacent.  Through the creation of buildings that respected its heritage character and the streetscape and the creation of new semi-public retail and outdoor spaces,  approval was granted in a very short time of 3 months.
